Sunday Liturgy & Announcements for October 12
We post the liturgy from the week so it will be accessible to you throughout the week. We encourage you to work through the catechism or be reminded about what Scripture was read in the service on Lords Day.
Call To Worship
LEADERLEADER
Psalm 93:1 The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty;
the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
2 Your throne is established from of old;
you are from everlasting.
3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their roaring.
4 Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
mightier than the waves of the sea,
the LORD on high is mighty!
5 Your decrees are very trustworthy;
holiness befits your house,
O LORD, forevermore.
PEOPLE
We lift up our hearts to you, O holy God. Amen.
Psalm 117:1 Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! 2 For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!
Catechism
LEADER
Did God create man so wicked and perverse?
PEOPLE
No. God created man good and in his own image,
that is, in true righteousness and holiness,
so that he might truly know God his creator,
love him with all his heart,
and live with God in eternal happiness,
for his praise and glory.
LEADER
Then where does man's corrupt nature come from?
PEOPLE
From the fall and disobedience of our first parents,
Adam and Eve, in Paradise.
This fall has so poisoned our nature
that we are all conceived and born in sin.
LEADER
But are we so corrupt that we are totally unable to do any good to the satisfaction of our salvation, and inclined toward evil?
PEOPLE
Yes, unless we are born again by the Spirit of God.
Confession
LEADER
Psalm 51:1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin!
3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you may be justified in your words
and blameless in your judgment.
5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Assurance
LEADER
Psalm 51:7, 12 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
PEOPLE
Thanks be to God who, by grace and through faith in Jesus, washes away all of our sins and makes us whiter than snow. Amen.
